Steps and optional Android permission
With your permission, Walkvale uses your Android step counter to award Energy and Trail XP and progress walking goals. It is not used to assess health or fitness. The game does not use GPS, location tracking or Health Connect.
Step tracking is optional. If you deny or revoke Physical activity permission in Android Settings → Apps → Walkvale → Permissions, you can still play, but walking rewards and goals will stop progressing. Step readings are processed on your device while the game is active and checked when you return. Local saves keep daily totals, goal progress, partial reward calculations and technical counter checkpoints, not a dated walking-history archive. Revoking permission does not erase saved information.
Game saves and current services
Progress, inventory, rewards, character choices, quests, building timers, village layout, camera choices, tutorial state and preferences are saved on your device until replaced or deleted; there is no fixed expiry. Daily step totals reset when the game observes a later day, while earned progress remains.
Walkvale has no developer-operated player accounts or cloud saves, in-game advertising, real-money purchases, gameplay analytics or integrated crash reporting. The Shop uses game currencies. Website hosting, email and Android backup are described separately.
Android backup and device transfers
On supported devices, a selected game snapshot may be included in Android-managed cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. It contains progress, preferences and activity-derived information such as daily steps and walking-goal progress. It excludes the previous device’s sensor baseline, permission-request history, other local saves and temporary files.
Android and your selected backup or transfer provider decide whether and when copies are made or restored. The developer does not operate the service or access your backup account. A backup may be older than your latest progress; it is not real-time synchronization.
Walkvale does not encrypt local saves or the prepared snapshot. Protection depends on Android, your device settings and the provider; end-to-end encryption is not guaranteed for every copy or transfer. The provider controls its own retention and deletion.
Deleting game data
Use Settings → Saves & Privacy → Delete All Game Data and type DELETE to confirm. This removes local game saves, recovery copies, temporary saves and the locally prepared backup snapshot, then starts a new game. It covers saved steps, progress and game preferences. It does not revoke Android activity permission.
You can also clear the app’s storage in Android settings or uninstall it to remove app-specific local data. Clearing only the cache is different. These actions do not delete remote Android backups, copies on other devices, manually copied files, website preferences or emails. An older backup may restore data after reinstalling or transferring the game. Use your Android or backup provider’s controls to manage available backups and restore choices; a later backup of a new game does not guarantee deletion of every older copy.
Website preferences
The site saves your language and theme in browser local storage; otherwise it follows your browser language and system theme. The choices are not sent to the developer, and you can clear them in browser settings. The site has no accounts, advertising pixels or marketing cookies.
Cloudflare hosting and Web Analytics
Cloudflare hosts and protects the site and may process your IP address, requested pages, request times and browser details. Security features may use necessary cookies; hosting and security retention varies. Supported browsers may also report connection errors to Cloudflare.
Web Analytics does not load automatically for visitors Cloudflare identifies as being in the EU. Elsewhere, it may collect page views, referrers, country, browser/device and performance data. Cloudflare says Analytics uses no cookies, browser storage or individual fingerprints, removes IP addresses at the network edge, keeps unsampled data for seven days and reports for six months. These periods do not cover hosting or security records.
Feedback submitted through the website
The optional form collects a category and message, plus your email and Android model if you provide them. We use this information to improve WalkVale, investigate reports and reply. No account is needed; do not include passwords or sensitive information.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks for automated abuse. A Pages Function stores form fields in a private Cloudflare D1 database. There is no public read endpoint, and the feedback record does not include your IP address. The database uses automatic location; Cloudflare may process requests globally, so processing is not limited to the EU.
A daily Worker deletes feedback after 12 months, within 24 hours of that limit. We may keep it longer for an ongoing matter or legal requirement. For earlier deletion, email [email protected] with the feedback reference ID. Cloudflare backups may retain copies longer.
Support and privacy emails
If you email us, we receive your address, any name, message, attachments and delivery details. We use them to respond, investigate reports and handle privacy requests. Send only relevant information, avoid sensitive details, and ask before sending a game save. Contacting us is voluntary.
Cloudflare Email Routing forwards messages to a dedicated consumer Gmail account (not Google Workspace). Cloudflare and Google process data to provide their services. We aim to delete messages 12 months after the last contact, unless needed for an ongoing matter or legal requirement; provider backups may last longer.
Purposes and legal bases
We process game data and provide step-based rewards and game support to deliver the game under our agreement with you. Site preferences, security, support and feedback replies, and limited site statistics rely on legitimate interests: operating and improving a usable, secure site and helping users without advertising profiles. Privacy requests and legally required records rely on legal obligations. Keeping information for an ongoing matter or legal claim relies on legitimate interests.
Providers and international processing
Cloudflare provides hosting, Turnstile, D1, Web Analytics and email routing; Google provides the receiving Gmail account; Android and your chosen providers handle backups and transfers. These providers may process data outside Finland and the EU/EEA, including in the United States, under applicable safeguards. Cloudflare’s Data Processing Addendum covers processing on our behalf; providers may also process data for their own purposes. Contact [email protected] for details or applicable transfer safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on the law and your situation, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy in transferable form, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email [email protected]. Requests are free and answered within one month; complex requests may take up to two extra months, with an explanation in the first month. We may ask for information to verify your identity. We cannot access local saves or Android backups remotely.
You may complain to a data protection authority, including Finland’s Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
Audience and policy updates
Walkvale is intended for people aged 13 and older, not children under 13. A parent or guardian with a privacy concern can contact [email protected].
We update this policy when the game, website or processing practices change and show the updated date here. Material changes will be highlighted on the website and, where appropriate, through the game.
